Connecting Thanksgiving

Welcome to your mid-week!

Apostle Paul’s example in Romans 1:8 reminds us to give thanks to God for the people in our lives. And who are the people we should thank God for? Well…

Who has strengthen us and made us more resilient? Who has been like Jonathan to David, Aaron and Hur to Moses, Ruth to Naomi, or Elizabeth to Mary?

Who has carried our burdens? Who has been like the 4 friends who carried the paralyzed man, the good Samaritan who took care of the man who was left for dead, Simon of Cyrene who took up the cross of Jesus, the early church who sold their possessions to meet the needs of everyone, or Job’s friends who sat with Job for seven days?

Who has forgiven us and shown us grace? Who has been like Jesus to Peter, Joseph to his brothers, the father to the prodigal son, Esau to Jacob, Hosea to Gomer, or Stephen to his persecutors?

Who has loved us and cared for us? Who was like Barnabas vouching for Paul, Jesus washing the feet of his disciples, or Apostle Paul to the church?

Who has shared our mission and purpose? Who has been like the 12 disciples spreading the gospel, God’s people on the way to the promised land, or Apostle Paul and Barnabas going on their first missionary journey?

For whoever came in your mind, those are the people we should thank God for.

People who helped us in our fears and doubts and battles and tragedies and unexpected situations.

People who physically and emotionally and spiritually carried us.

People who forgave us and showed grace to us despite our own sins.

People who loved us and cared for us as true family.

People who partnered with us, helping to do the good work God called us to do.

Thank God for them.

Thank you God for them.

Thank you God.

God’s blessing upon you as you mediate on all the people God has brought into your life who blessed you and helped you to be more and more like Christ, and I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday.
