Expect Great Things, Attempt Great Things

Welcome to your mid-week!

God does not call the equipped. He equips the called.

Moses was insecure and afraid.

Gideon thought he was too weak.

Jeremiah thought he was too young.

All throughout scripture we see men and women of God who would have been considered ordinary be used by God to do great things.

I mean, how could Esther, a young woman living in exile, be the savior of her people?

How could Peter, the impulsive uneducated fisherman, be the rock that the church is built upon?

How could David, a young shepherd boy, be King?

But God equipped every single one of them. And he still does to those who say yes to him every day. For example…

William Carey, the founder of modern missions, didn’t have vast resources, high education, or a platform of influence. He had none of the things that society or even the church deemed essential for success. All he had was a deep, unwavering trust in God’s ability to do great things through small, obedient steps. And that daily reliance on God is what led to the transformation of nations.

William Carey once said, “I can plod. I can persevere in any definite pursuit. To this I owe everything.”

If God could use a poor cobbler with no formal education to ignite a global missionary movement, then He can use any of us. The question is, will we have the courage to expect great things from God and attempt great things for God?

God’s blessing as you mediate on missions and the call to make disciples, and I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday.
