Today is October 30, 2019
Welcome to your mid-week!
When you look at the end of Judges you see what the people of God look like when God is not king over their lives. And, what do you see? You see
sexual violence, brutality, objectification, rape, murder, war, kidnapping, forced marriages, might makes right, & ends justify the means.
And this is not solely done by individuals. You see wickedness democratized. You see the leadership choose to do detestable things believing that their decisions are good.
The end of Judges is a gruesome picture of a world where God is not king for anyone, where everyone did what they thought was right. And it begs us to ask the question for ourselves:
Is Jesus king in our life? Or is He not?
Are we seeing people as the image of God? As people who should be given honor and respect and love? Are we convicted by the Holy Spirit to show the love that God showed us? To show the love described in 1 Corinthians 13 which include patience, kindness, humility, forgiveness, and trust?
For, with all the bad news we read and see in this world, more than ever do we need God's people to show who is king over their lives.
God's blessing upon you and I look forward to seeing you all this Sunday.
