TFPC EM NEWSLETTER - JANUARY 16, 2019

Important Considerations
Today is January 16, 2019
Welcome to your mid-week!
This past Sunday we started looking at our vision verse for 2019, Hebrews 10:24-25, and we began with the first 4 words:
"And let us consider..."
When God speaks to us through his word, he is direct. He is clear and assertive. Just looking at Jesus' commands and you will find the words 'must' and 'be' and 'go.' You 'must love one another.' (John 13:34). 'Be merciful' (Luke 6:36). 'Go and make disciples' (Matthew 29:19)
These are Jesus' clear commands to us and the bible has a ton more.
If you feel any discomfort when meditating on these commands, then that is the Holy Spirit tugging at your sinful nature; telling you to change. This is why reading and studying God's word is so crucial in growing as a Christian. Like Jesus at Gethsemane, we need to wrestle with the commands of God and, if we have declared Jesus Lord, then, ultimately, we need to submit. We need to change.
You might wrestle with God's commands for years. You might try to ignore them or run away from them, but, ultimately, you changing and submitting to God is the conclusion every Christian must come to when confronted with the direct commands of God.
However, when we speak the commands of God to someone else; when it is not God directly speaking to them but us serving as the middle man, then we need to pause and 'consider.' We need to 'consider,' otherwise that message of God you're sharing might be rejected. No matter how sincere or how important that message may be, if you are not considering the other person then that message might be rejected.
And that is something that we would not want to happen.
Our vision verse does not say, 'And let us spur one another...' Our vision verse says, 'And let us consider how we may spur one another...'
And that is our challenge.
God's blessing upon you as you try to be more considerate to the people around you and I look forward to seeing you all this Sunday.
