Welcome to your mid-week!
This past Sunday we looked at Hebrews 10:1-23, the verses leading up to our new year's vision verses for 2019. We did this to see the foundational elements of why we should do our vision. And what were the main themes of the verses leading up to verses 24-25?
Well, verses 1-18 tells us the gospel message.
How we are forgiven of our sins. How God sent his son to die for our sins. How Jesus is the perfect sacrifice. That he who was without sin takes our sin and dies in our place, paying the penalty of sin. How God's great gift not only forgives us of our sins but makes us holy and perfect, able to once again be with our maker. And this allows us to have the hope of eternal life that he showed us via his resurrection.
Verse 19 begins with 'therefore.' This means we have to first believe verses 1-18 before moving forward. If you do then...
Verse 22 tells us to draw near to God.
With such forgiveness there is no need of guilt or shame. No matter what you've done or what you are still doing, we have full assurance to draw near to God.
And, verse 23 tells us to hold on to this hope.
The gospel message is our reminder of what it took for us to be able to go home. When this world shows itself not to be our home we need to remember this message to give us hope.
So, the foundational elements of our vision is to have faith, draw near, and hold on. And, if you can do more, then do verses 24-25.

Hebrews 10:22-23 - "let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful."
