TFPC EM NEWSLETTER - JANUARY 22, 2025

Faith Forward: Faithful in the Quiet

Today January 22, 2025

Good morning and welcome to your mid-week!

Of the 12 disciples, Judas (Not Iscariot), Simon the Zealot, and James son of Alphaeus are the quietest. In fact, when it comes to James son of Alphaeus, there is nothing recorded about the man.

One might ask why Jesus would call them at all if they seem to have no importance.

However, the fact that Jesus did call these men teaches us something. And, in the few things that we see and in the quiet that is recorded, we get a picture of their heart.

For Judas (Not Iscariot), we see his quiet missional heart.

For Simon, we see his quiet restraint and submission.

For James, we see his quiet faithful service.

And, when we think about our vision of starting faith relationships, having that kind of heart is the good soil where new relationships will thrive.

As we reflect on these disciples, let’s commit to following their examples in our faith relationships. Let’s cultivate hearts of evangelism, a heart of submissive to God, and a heart to serve faithfully, even when unnoticed.

And let’s remember: silence does not mean disengagement nor does it mean someone does not care. Your faith, and my faith, can be our faith even in the quiet.

God’s blessing as you mediate on the disciples and the quiet they express, and I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday.
