Today is March 8, 2023
Welcome to your mid-week!
God's people are commended for their faith twice in Hebrews 11.
When Pharaoh threatened God's people with an army of chariots, God's people had to trust in God's victory as he told them to walk through the Red Sea. When God's people were told to conquer the imposing fortress of Jericho, God's people had to trust in God's victory as he told them to walk around the structure 13 times in the span of a week.
In both cases God's people had to walk in a direction that would have been challenging to go. And, in both cases, it was God who fought for his people; it was God who achieved the victory. Meaning, God's people had to trust in God's power, not in their own.
For us, God achieves victory over this world through Jesus Christ. However, that victory does not mean we won't face our own spiritual Pharaohs and Jericho's in our lives. God's victory means that the challenges we face in this world won't determine who we are in Christ or our future destiny that is secured by Christ.
All God asks us to do is to not give up, but to continue to move forward in faith trusting in his victory. That is what God's people did and what they were commended for.
God's blessing upon you as you meditate on the faith of God's people and the victory we have in Jesus Christ, and I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday.
