Jesus Wins

Today is May 29, 2019

Welcome to your mid-week!

Living in a world where we, as it says in Ephesian 6:12, struggle against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms; where, as it says in 1 Peter 5:8, the enemy prowls like a roaring lion; where, as Paul describes in Romans 7:14-25, our own physical nature is at war with our spiritual nature; living in that world can feel

hopeless.

Especially when we feel like we are losing. When we fail or take two steps back or relapse or see no end in sight to the conflict that we face. We may want to give up. To stay down. To just succumb to the hopelessness.

But, this is why the book of Revelation is so important. In the book of Revelation we see that Jesus wins. Who defeats the spiritual forces of evil? Jesus. Who rescues us from our internal war? Jesus. Who overcomes and gives us hope beyond this world? Jesus.

In the end, Jesus wins. And, for those of us who follow him, we have that same victory. 

So, no matter how hard this world may be and no matter what losses we may experience here, we can still hold on to the victory that we have in Jesus Christ. That is where our hope is and where we can get the strength to not give up, to not give in, to get up and dust ourselves again, to do our best to try, once again, to follow him. Because, as it says in Hebrews 10:23, he who promised is faithful.
