Miracle Workers
Today is November 13, 2019
Welcome to your mid-week!
This past weekend I was away on missions, so Dr. Hak Joon Lee preached in my place. He preached from John 6:1-11, when Jesus feeds the five thousand, and, in that passage, Dr. Lee shared how Andrew and the boy with no name were miracle workers.
The miracle they did was not quick and supernatural - like you would expect from a magician. No. It was an act of faith; a response to the suffering they were witnessing and to the command of God they knew they needed to do.
And it is their response in faith that makes them miracle workers; workers that led to Jesus' miracle.
In Dr. Lee's words: "I believe our Christian life and ministry is a miracle working in slow motion. It doesn't happen immediately. But, when the gladness of our heart responds to the suffering of the world - no matter how meager [that response] is - [even] as meager as [bringing] 5 loves and 2 fish - God still gladly accepts it and...performs a miracle [with it]. [Therefore] God is waiting for our faith response."
God doesn't want people to observe and receive miracles like audience members watching a magic show. No. God wants us to perform the miracles; to be part of miracles that changes the lives of people. And that starts with us responding in faith.
God's blessing upon you and I look forward to seeing you all this Sunday.
