TFPC EM NEWSLETTER - March 26, 2025

Season of Lent: Rejection

Today March 26, 2025

Good morning and welcome to your mid-week!

Christ experienced every type of rejection: from his home town to the world, from those who followed him to the local authority, from his family to his disciples.

Just as Isaiah prophesied in Isaiah 53:3, Jesus was despised and rejected by mankind. Meaning, when it comes to knowing the pain of rejection, Jesus knows it.

Rejection, when not treated, leads to us walking wounded.

Walking wounded leads to bitterness and resentment

Walking wounded leads to self-doubt and insecurity

Walking wounded leads to the fear of being vulnerable

Walking wounded leads to withdrawal and isolation

Walking wounded leads to seeking the approval of others

Walking wounded leads to become a people pleaser

Walking wounded changes us. Instead of living from a place of hope – we’re living from a place of hurt. Instead of responding from a place of healing, we just react – where our responses are shaped by those wounds.

Jesus shows us that we do not have to choose to walk wounded. We can choose to walk in faith.

To walk in faith is to have our identity be shaped by the word of the Lord. That, as Ephesians 1:4-5 reminds us, we are chosen, we are loved, we are redeemed.

To walk in faith is means we respond with trust, healing, and hope rather than fear, bitterness, or despair.

Walking in faith doesn’t mean we don’t feel pain— it means bringing those pains to the Lord instead of letting them define us.

The joy of Christ is that, no matter who rejects us, Christ accepts us. Not only does he accept us but he walks with us as we experience the pain of rejection. But, even beyond that, he shows us a way out of the pain of that rejection - to go from walking wounded to walking in faith.

God’s blessing as you mediate on the rejections in your life, and I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday.
