Welcome to your mid-week!

When we have disagreements with people at church, our current Christian culture says that it is okay to leave the church. That it is better to not argue and fight but to find another church in which to worship God. I mean, we are not losing faith - we are just choosing to worship elsewhere, right?

But such thinking goes against countless scriptural versus that tell us the opposite. Romans 12:10-16 alone tells us to

10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.”

There are two many influences that say a divided church is ok.

Community is not found, it is built. As the bible says, we are like ‘living stones…being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood… (1 Peter 2:5). We cannot say to someone that we don’t need them (1 Corinthians 12:21). Even the hardest of moments help us to become more sanctified and appreciative of the work of Christ (Proverbs 27:17).

So, in the midst of all the influences breaking apart the church, Apostle Paul’s appeal is an appeal to us. 1 Corinthians 1:10 – “I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.”

God’s blessing upon you as you wrestle with your place in the Lord’s Community, and I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday.

  The Ministry of Education is recruiting teachers and volunteers who are dedicated to faith education for the next generation. For more details, please contact the department pastors or the church office. (Pre-K, Elementary, Youth)

• Sunday Lunch Serving for the 11:30am worship, June 30

  Previously advertised as ‘need for volunteers for the 9:45am worship service’, the KM has asked that, instead of the 9:45am service, if EM can help serve lunch for the 11:30am. Please sign-up in the back.
