TFPC EM NEWSLETTER - JULY 14, 2021

Jesus vs Satan
Today is July 14, 2021
Welcome to your mid-week!
In Satan' attack of Jesus in the early point of Jesus' ministry, we learn several things. First of all, Satan is waging a war for hearts and minds. Maybe not so that we would love him, but that we would definitely turn away from God.
Temptations force a person to either take a step closer to God or a step away from God. In Satan's temptations, we see a campaign of distraction, a campaign of distortion, and a campaign of denial - all targeting the hearts and mind of the individual.
Meaning, Satan is playing the long game. Satan is not going for a single blow or a single act. He is not gonna invade the city or come out in all spectacle. Satan's attack is sneaky, subtly, and, if we are to be honest, effective.
Christianity has been on the decline in America for decades. More pews are empty. More churches are closing. Even at our church, if we were to be critical, how many of the thousands that have passed through our own church still go to a church or even claim they are still Christian?
In order to fight the battle we must first be willing to acknowledge the battle, to see the seriousness of the threat and the casualties inflicted by it. Only in doing so can we take to heart what Jesus shows us.
Because, what Jesus shows us is how to win. That by preparing for the attack and knowing the word of God, we can fight back. However, we must first acknowledge the spiritual campaign for our hearts and minds that is taking place right now.
God's blessing and protection over you as you mediate on the attacks of Satan, and I look forward to worshiping with you this Sunday.

Continuing Announcements
- Cell Group Leaders Needed!
- We are looking to create a ‘Singles & Professional’ (S&P for short) cell group to launch in September and we need leaders!
- Needs the group have made:
- Someone who understands this particular stage of life, though does not feel the need to teach what is the "right" way to live this stage of life
- Someone who is hospitable and able to create a space (both digital and personal) for members to gather and do life together, though not necessarily in their own home
- Because it has been over a year since members have had a community, it is important for the leader to allow time for fellowship so that the members can get reacquainted
- The leader should have a good rapport with most of the members
- Ideally, the group would be led by 2 people (1 woman and 1 man), either a husband and wife or 2 single members; this will ensure that if there are deeper conversations that take place, members can have someone they may feel more comfortable with
- Expectations of the leaders:
- A space where our members can be unapologetic and share about their experiences; re-establishing a cell and community for young singles
- A community where members can be encouraged by peers
- Meet every other week, ideally meet over a meal
- TFPC will cover the cost of meals, curriculum, supplies, and trips for the S&P Cell Group
- Please contact Pastor Frank at frankkim1@gmail.com if interested!
