TFPC EM NEWSLETTER - June 17, 2020

The Goal
Today is June 17, 2020
Welcome to your mid-week!
Usually the goal of the work that we do is to succeed in the work. Whether that work is working on a project, or our taxes, or to spend quality time with a love one - the goal is usually to succeed in that endeavor. And, if that is the goal, then, if we fail, we usually experience stress or anxiety, disappointment, doubt, or even depression.
Well, in Philippians 3, Apostle Paul tells us that the goal is not whether you succeed or fail in the work that you do. No. The goal is to know Christ. That is the goal.
Now, does that mean we don't need to work hard? Does that give us a license to be lazy? No. As image bearers of God we need to emulate God. As He is excellence so we should strive for excellence. As He gives His best, so we should give our best.
However, the encouragement we have is that, even if we fail, it is okay. It is okay. In your success and failures, what is revealed to you about Christ? What is revealed to you about His power and love, about His suffering and death? How are you knowing Jesus more through the work you are doing?
Because, the more we know Christ, the more we understand and appreciate His great act of love for us, and that, in turn, should lead us to worship Him more.
Knowing Christ. That is the goal. The focus is not on the outcome. The focus is on He who overcomes.
God's blessing and protection over you and your family and I look forward to worshiping with you onsite or online this Sunday.
