Our Story & Vision
Like most English Ministries that are attached to a Korean-American Church, the English Ministry was created to meet the needs of the next generation that were raised in America but who were still connected to the Korean-American church context in some aspect.
With TFPC starting in 1979, there have been several English Ministries that have come and gone throughout that time. The current one began in 2009 under then Pastor Billy Song. They use to meet in the 2nd floor of the Education Building.
In June 2016, Pastor Frank became the 2nd EM Pastor of the English Ministry. By August of that year the English Ministry moved to it's current chapel location in the Main Building in order to be closer to the Korean Ministry.
Currently, the English Ministry strives to be more integrated with the Korean Ministry. This is done practically via joint worship, missions, and events throughout the year, as well as having members serve in the governing bodies of the church as a whole. But, in general, our EM is embracing the unique governing aspects of the PC(USA) demonation and taking on the important role of the minority voice within the church.
This is our solution to the KM/EM challenge that every Korean Immigrant Church faces. It is a solution dedicated to honesty, intentionality, and, above all, a commitment to being uncomfortable.
